Two MISD nurses teaming up to create hygiene bags for their students

MIDLAND, Texas (Nexstar)- Two school nurses in Midland are teaming up to make sure girls in elementary schools have everything they need.

They are making small bags full of everything young girls need as they begin puberty.

“Knowing that they can come to us as nurses opens up that gateway, so they know that they have a safe place to talk about the changes that are going on,” said school nurse Gianna Cerda.

The nurses at General Franks Elementary and Ralph Bunche Elementary are asking for donations to help with the bags.

Items needed:

  • Small make-up bags
  • Hair ties or scrunchies
  • Sanitary pads
  • Chapstick
  • Travel sized deodorant

If you would like to donate any of these items, you can drop them off in the office of either school.
