The school year has officially begun, but some parent’s aren’t done preparing their students.
San Jacinto Junior High parent Meredith Flowers, telling us last year she struggled to get everything her kids need because she didn’t get a school supply list until the first day of school.
“Last year was a bit hectic, getting the list the first week of school,” she said.
Flowers says her daughter, Chase, has classes with varied required supplies, sending her back to the store.
“The teachers probably wait because I don’t see why they would have any other way to get it out per student,” she said.
MISD school supply lists are up to the discretion of the campus, and the district says each class is handled differently.
By the time school starts, however, Chase Flowers says store shelves are sweeped of what they’re looking for.
“It feels like all of the supplies are gone because everybody else has gone back to school shopping already,” she said.
Luckily, MISD released a list of general school supplies before classes were back in session, making it much easier to get the things her children need.
“MISD got a list out early on their website which made it a lot easier,” Flowers said, “We’re very thankful for that.”
