The Permian Counts program gears up for the 2020 Census

News

MIDLAND, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – The Permian Strategic Partnership begins ‘The Permian Counts’ campaign to steer people in the Basin to participate in the 2020 Census. The program is to help educate and raise awareness of the census.

“A two percent under count, so if we miss the mark by just two percent, regionally we will lose 1.1 billion dollars in gross product. Which is a hundred and 12 million dollars a year. That equivalates to about 13,000 jobs just to give you an idea of the impact we are looking at,” says Tracee Bentley, President and CEO of Permian Strategic Partnership.

According to a press release, the Permian Strategic Partnership commissioned the Perryman Group to perform a study which reveals the negative impact of a potential under count.

“If we don’t get a good count, we are going to get resources that do not reflect our population here,” says Bentley

For more information on the study or how to participate in the 2020 Census, you can visit The Permian Counts on Facebook or click here.
