(Big 2/Fox 24) – When you visit Bush’s Chicken, you can taste the love, especially in their newly released Bushbaby’s Chicken Sandwich. But Bush’s Chicken is more than delicious food; behind the franchise, there is a story of love, determination, commitment, and dedication to family and community.
“Have everyone in your family onboard, be in your community together, live where your restaurants are, and just be involved and love what you do. I do. I’m getting up there in age, but I work every day in the store. I taste chicken every day.”Keith Bush, Co-Founder, Bush’s Chicken
Keith and Charlene founded Bush’s Chicken in 1995, and they were married for 46 years before Charelen’s passing. The story behind Charlene’s mission to help those in need is even sweeter than the sauce she created from scratch, taking a year to get it just right before she lost her battle to cancer.
“You know she was a wonderfully loving, kind person. I always tell a story about one of our employees who got accidentally murdered in a drive-by shooting, and one of the university’s coaches called and called if there was any way we could help with the funeral. She said immediately she would pay for everything. So you know, she always wanted to give back to the community and always involved with our students and always wanted to give back, and she was just the most amazing woman in the world.”Keith Bush, Co-Founder, Bush’s Chicken
Not only does Keith continue to support his community and his employees as well through student scholarships, but he also is dedicated to what he loves to do. That is the secret recipe to Bush’s Chicken is love.
