Texas Tech to face Michigan in CWS first round

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are headed back to Omaha and they have their first opponent.

Tech was in a battle with a familiar foe over the weekend at the Lubbock Super Regional in Oklahoma State.

The Cowboys and Red Raiders needed three games to decide a winner. Ultimately the Red Raiders survived and will advance to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.

Late Sunday night, Texas Tech found out who they would face in the first round of the CWS; Michigan.

The Wolverines managed to upset the number one overall seed in UCLA over the weekend.

The win in Los Angeles set up a re-match between Michigan and the Red Raiders.

Back in late March, the teams squared up at Dan Law Field for a three game set. Texas Tech would go on two sweep the Wolverines with big wins in each of the three games; 11-2, 10-3 and 8-5 respectfully.

Dates and times for the first round have yet to be announced.

Florida State, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and Louisville also punched their ticket to Omaha over the weekend.

Vanderbilt will face Louisville in the first round while Florida State awaits the winner of the Arkansas-Ole Miss Super Regional and Mississippi State awaits the winner of North Carolina-Auburn.
