Texas Tech Football’s John Scott III released from ICU following shooting

According to Texas Tech Football’s twitter, redshirt freshman John Scott III was released from the Intensive Care Unit on Monday following a shooting Saturday afternoon.

Scott was one of two victims involved in the shooting at Park East Apartments on Saturday. He was transported to University Medical Center with severe injuries.

According to Texas Tech Athletics, Scott is still being treated at the hospital.

“We told our players during a team meeting, and their faces immediately brightened up as they looked forward to seeing their teammate and friend,” head football coach Matt Wells said in the release.

Wells said the program will continue to support Scott and his family as they begin the journey to recovery.

24-year-old Asia Jackson was charged with aggravated assual after the shooting, according to our Lubbock sister station.
