In just three years as head coach, Chris Beard has led the Red Raiders to their first NCAA Tournament Final Four appearance in program history.

West Region No. 3 seed Texas Tech defeated No. 1 Gonzaga 75-69 Saturday evening to advance to the next round.

Despite trailing by two at halftime, Texas Tech kept up the same momentum in the second half. The Red Raiders’ famous lock-down defense came up clutch in the final minutes of the game to shut down Gonzaga and keep a lead.

Sophomore guard Jarrett Culver led the Red Raiders with 19 points.

Texas Tech will now face the winner of the Duke/Michigan State match-up taking place on Sunday.
