The death toll continues to climb on Basin roads this week after law enforcement agencies report various fatal crashes spanning four counties.
Sunday marked a tragic day in Midland as police reported a head-on crash along Highway 191 that left five people dead.
Tuesday, the Fourth of July, also turned tragic in Andrews county as DPS reported a three-car crash on Highway 176 that left two people dead.
Wednesday became a day full of tragedy as various agencies reported at least three different fatal crashes:
– An 18-year-old Odessa woman died following a one-car crash on Interstate 20, about 3 miles east of Pyote, according to DPS.
– A 49-year-old man died in Odessa Wednesday after crashing a motorcycle along Wilshire in the central part of town, police say.
– A woman died Wednesday night after a driver crashed into a home in Midland along La Salle. The driver was arrested for intoxication manslaughter, police say.
In total, there have been 68 traffic related deaths this year in the Permian Basin, according to police reports from various law enforcement agencies.
