Teen killed in ATV crash

LEA COUNTY, New Mexico (Big 2/Fox 24) – A 14-year-old was killed and a 15-year-old was injured following an ATV crash in Lea County, according to a release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Officials say, around 7 p.m. Monday Night, Lea County deputies were called to the area of Turner Road and Avenue O in Eunice about the crash.

While investigating, deputies learned that two teenage girls were driving the ATV and pulled out in front of a pickup on Turner Road, according to the release.

Both of the teens were reportedly thrown from the ATV.

Officials say the 14-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene and the 15-year-old was airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock.

No other injuries were reported and LCSO officials say the investigation is ongoing.
