Tax return preparer sentenced in federal court

One man has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to a scheme to defraud the Internal Revenue Service, according to a release from the Department of Justice. 

Officials say Makinson Auguste, the owner of YeYe Tax and Multi Services in Odessa admitted to preparing hundreds of fraudulent tax returns from 2012 and 2016. 

Auguste reportedly added just enough false income to lower the income tax returns he prepared for clients qualifying them for higher income tax credit. 

He was sentenced to two years in federal prison on Wednesday.
