Suspect Killed Following Standoff in Alpine

ALPINE, Texas (Local 2/Fox 24) - The Texas Rangers are investigating following a standoff and officer-involved shooting in Alpine. 

According to the Brewster County Sheriff's Office, deputies, along with officers from the Alpine Police Department, were called to a home Monday about a suspect making threats. 

At the scene, a standoff ensued, according to the BCSO. 

Officials say the suspect, who has not been identified, then fired shots at law enforcement. 

Officers returned fire and struck the suspect who was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to a release. The Texas Rangers have now been called to investigate.
