A man was arrested in Gaines County on Thursday after police say he assaulted a man with a gun the day before in Fort Stockton.
On Wednesday officers were called to the 300 block of W. Division in Fort Stockton about a gun incident.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man with several cuts on his head and face, according to a release.
The victim was transported to Pecos County Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Medical Center Hospital, according to the release.
Officers later spoke to the victim who said that Eric Portillo has assaulted him with a small handgun in Fort Stockton while the two were in Portillo’s vehicle, according to the release.
Investigators later obtained an arrest warrant for Portillo charging him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The next day Fort Stockton officers were notified that the Seminole Police Department, in conjunction with the Gaines County Sheriff’s Office had arrested Portillo, according to the release.
Portillo is still in custody in Gaines County charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
