ODESSA, TX (KMID/KPEJ) – Two Odessa parents are worried after their 11-year-old son found a strange object in his cereal Thursday morning.
“I opened the box of cereal and the bag was partially opened, and I didn’t think nothin’ about it,” the boy said.
He didn’t think anything about it, until he scooped up a strange thing.
“It was sticky and shiny and hard,” he said.
The family said the object pictured above was in a box of Marshmallow Gems, purchased from the HEB on 42nd street in Odessa.
“To me it looked like molded beef jerky,” the boy’s father said, “But my wife said it was hard.”
The family said they’re worried their son will get sick from eating from the cereal they found the object in, so they turned to HEB to voice their concerns.
The grocery store tells Local 2 News, “We take these claims incredibly seriously and are very proactive about these situations.”
The store encourages any family to file a claim if this happens to them, and return the product for examination.
We’re told HEB’s Quality Assurance Team has spoken to the Odessa family, and will be handling the investigation from here on out.
