ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Six new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Ector County, according to stats released Wednesday.
This brings the total case count to 130 in Ector County.
Stats also show that 2065 have been tested for the virus, with 1819 coming back negative. Ector County Health Department stats also note that 81 have recovered from the virus and 116 are still pending.
Locally, a surge was recorded Tuesday as nine new cases were confirmed. The next day, Gov. Greg Abbott announced that hospitals in Midland and Odessa were to receive three cases of Remdesivir to combat the virus.
Additionally, efforts are underway to test all licensed nursing homes in Odessa. City officials say Odessa Fire/Rescue has already begun that process.
There are seven nursing home facilities in Odessa and the deadline to have testing complete is May 25.
There was some good news Wednesday. The City of Odessa announced playgrounds and the skate park will reopen on Friday, along with pavilions.
Community centers, and youth sports will follow soon after.
