(Nexstar)- This Saturday is National Drug Take-Back Day and all are encouraged to dispose of their expired or unused medications in a safe way.

“What happens is a lot of times people think that they’ll have expired prescriptions in their cabinets and they’ll just leave them there or throw them away and you know there’s people that go through the dumpsters and look for these things. What people don’t realize is they could end up in the wrong hands whether it’s their grandkids or just anyone,” said Cpl. Steve LeSueur with the Odessa Police Department.

If you want to take back your prescriptions, there are three drop box locations in Odessa and three in Midland.

  • CVS Pharmacy, 4101 East 42nd St. Odessa, accepts controlled substances only, no sharps or needles
  • CVS Pharmacy, 100 East University Blvd. Odessa, accepts controlled substances only, no sharps or needles
  • Walgreens Pharmacy, 1305 W University Blvd Odessa, accepts controlled substances only, no sharps or needles
