A 55-year-old man from San Antonio was killed following a crash near Rankin earlier this week, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Troopers were called to the crash around 2:32 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 349, about eight miles north of Rankin.

While investigating, troopers learned that the driver of a Ford F-250, Carlton Carter, failed to stay in his lane and entered the northbound lane before collided with a GMC Sierra, according to the report.

The driver of the Sierra, Ronald Rincon, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, DPS officials say.

Carter was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital with incapacitating injuries.
