The Texas Tech Red Raiders will return to the Permian Basin next weekend.

The team, as a part of their spring series, will hold a scrimmage at Grande Communications Stadium starting at 7 p.m., April 5.

In 2019, the Red Raiders will have a new-look and feel to them as the University parted ways with Kliff Kingsbury and hired Matt Wells to lead the program.

2018 proved to be a difficult year for Texas Tech who went 5-7 overall and 3-6 in the Big 12 Conference. Despite the record, the Red Raiders has some bright moments battling late with Oklahoma, who would eventually go on to the College Football Playoff, and in-state rival Texas.

While Tech fought through injuries and difficult moments, the University ultimately decided to bring in a fresh face to lead the program in Wells.

Texas Tech will open the 2019 season on Aug. 31 at Jones AT&T Stadium against Montana State.
