The Texas Rangers selected Texas Tech infielder Josh Jung as the eighth overall pick in this year’s MLB Draft.
The San Antonio-native is the second Red Raider in program history to be picked in the first round.
The junior third baseman won his 10th All-American award last week, and was the Big 12 Co-Player of the Year. He has tacked on more that 250 hits with Texas Tech.
Jung has a career batting average of .347 with Texas Tech and 91 extra-base hits.
Jung and the Red Raiders will make their second-straight Super Regional appearance this Saturday in Lubbock.
