BIG SPRING, Texas (Big 2/ Fox 24)- Four Texas Supreme Court Justice seats are up for re-election this year. The Texas Supreme Court is currently made up of 9 Republican Justices and Larry Praeger wants Texas voters to know the importance of diversity in the Court.

Larry Praeger addressing Texas voters at Howard College in Big Spring, TX.

“You have an opportunity to change the Judiciary and select the Judges who make decisions that impact your life.”

After practicing family law, being a Defense Lawyer, a Prosecutor, and starting his own practice Larry Praeger has decided to throw his hat in the ring and run for the Texas Supreme Court Place Six.

“Extensive trial experience, your appellate courts are about whether or not you’ve had a fair trial and there are two things you need to determine that; understanding of the nuts and bolts of trials, the mechanics of trials, and number two you need to understand the impact of trials and litigation on people.”

Calling on Texas voters to look at a Justice’s background both professionally and personally before casting their vote.

“I’m the first person in my family to get a four-year degree or a professional degree. I had to borrow money, paid it back, but I understand what it’s like to work and to represent people who are like me. I think if you look at your supreme court it’s hard to find people who’ve had the type of experience that I’ve had.”

He says when it comes to a fair trial a diverse court is a necessity saying that “diversity of party, diversity of experience, is a good thing.”
