ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Odessa Police have arrested a man in connection with a stolen vehicle case following a crash over the weekend.

Police say they were called to the crash late Friday night in the area of 42nd Street and Tanglewood lane.

While investigating, officers learned that the driver of a BMW failed to yield the right of way while turning onto Tanglewood and collided with a motorcycle, according to a release.

The motorcycle rider, McKay Valdez, was ejected from the bike and was taken to Medical Center Hospital.

Police officials say Valdez was later air-lifted to Lubbock with life threatening injuries.

The driver of the BMW, Benjamin Ramos, was later found to be intoxicated and in a vehicle that had been reported stolen, according to the release.

Police say Ramos was also found with marijuana and initially gave a fake name to officers.

He has since been charged with intoxication assault, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, false identification and possession of marijuana.
