After a week of searching the Odessa Police Department has found and arrested a suspect who has now been officially charged with aggravated sexual assault.
According to a release from the department, police arrested Brandon Lamar Rone at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Police originally responded to a sexual assault call on April 13 at a motel on Highway 80.
A woman told police that while she was in her room Rone walked in holding a knife, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The woman said Rone sexually assaulted her and then left before she called the police, according to the affidavit.
After reporting the assault to police the woman spoke to others and Rone was reportedly identified through social media.
Officers later interviewed Rone who claimed that he had consensual sex with the woman and never threatened her with a knife, according to the affidavit.
