PECOS COUNTY, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – The pedestrian killed in a crash Tuesday in Fort Stockton has been identified by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Troopers were called to the crash around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on I-10, about a half mile from Fort Stockton.
While investigating, troopers learned that the driver of a Toyota was headed east on I-10 when he collided with a pedestrian that was in the roadway at mile post 256. Following the initial collision, the driver left the roadway into a ditch, officials say.
The pedestrian, Gerald Harris, of Superior, AZ., was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, DPS officials say.
The driver, Richard Lynn, was taken to Pecos County Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, according to the release.
