PECOS, Texas (Nexstar)- Mayor David Flores says he has spoken to officials in charge of the Pecos migrant facility.

In a Facebook post on the Town of Pecos City page Flores said he has spoken with the executive leaders of Endeavors, the company contracted to run the facility on behalf of Health and Human Services and the Office of Refugee and Resettlement.

From that meeting Flores said he learned Endeavors is expected to be housing 500 unaccompanied children by April 16 and is expecting nearly 1,000 children before the end of April.

Endeavors is currently working on transferring the children to family or sponsors, the goal is to transfer about 100 children per day once those sponsors are located and verified.

There is a ratio of one worker to every 12 children and the average stay for an unaccompanied child in the facility is estimated to be 30 days.
