OPD to honor fallen officers next week with special service

ODESSA, Texas (Nexstar)- Odessa Police, in honor of National Police Memorial Week, will honor nine local officers who lost their lives in the line of duty at a special memorial service next week.

National Police Memorial Week, May 9-15, is a week set aside to recognize the service and sacrifice of U.S. law enforcement. 

At 10:00 a.m. May 13, OPD will hold a memorial service for the nine fallen local officers, as well as for the 85 officers throughout Texas who lost their lives in the line of duty this past year.

Additionally, the community is encouraged to replace their porch lights with blue bulbs beginning May 9 through May 15 to honor all police officers who have been killed in the line of duty.
