ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – In an effort to reduce traffic violations, the Odessa Police Department regularly designates safe zones throughout the city.

Safe zones are areas in which residents may see an increased presence of law enforcement officers who are focused on traffic enforcement.

For the week of July 1, the OPD will be out in the following areas:

  • Highway 385: From Interstate 20 to South Loop 338
  • W. 42nd: From Kermit Highway to West County Road
  • Highway 191: From Loop 338 to Lightin Road

Police officials say the goal of safe zones are to reduce traffic violations and crashes throughout the city.
