OPD, Animal Control announce Operation CARing

These pups are safely hanging out with their owner, but some furry friends are not as fortunate. OPD will be looking out for pets left in hot cars this summer.

ODESSA, Texas (Nexstar)- The Odessa Police Department Animal Control Unit have today announced the start of Operation CARing.

Leaving your pet in a hot vehicle, even for as little as 10 minutes can endanger the life of your furry friend.

It is against the law to leave animals in a hot car. As such, OPD will be on the lookout for unattended animals this summer.

Pet owners who violate the city ordinance may receive a citation, face animal cruelty charges, and incur the cost of a broken window if officers nee to break in to save your pet.
