ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) The Odessa Police Department is warning residents of another phone scam.

Police officials say they have been receiving reports of someone using the number 432-333-3641, which is an OPD number, and claiming to be Detective Bailey.

The caller tells victims they are under investigation and ask for their social security number, according to a release.

They then tell the victim they owe money and need to stay on the line, police say.

OPD is reassuring residents that there is no Detective Bailey with the department and that officers will never solicit payment over the phone.

Residents are encouraged to hang up and never give out personal information.
