Odessa Police charge man in robbery case

The Odessa Police Department has charged one man in connection with a robbery that occurred over the weekend.

Police officials say on Saturday, officers were called to Melrose about a disturbance.

The victim told officers someone had come into the store and tried to use a counterfeit bill, according to a release.

The suspect, later identified as Louis Cowan, then left the store and dropped his wallet before riding away on a bike, police say.

Cowan later returned for the wallet and threatened a witness with a large knife, according to the release.

He was arrested the same day and charged with aggravated robbery.
