An Odessa woman is in jail after falsely reporting that her baby was kidnapped in North Odessa on Sunday afternoon.

In a police report, it states that 31-year-old Brenna Rogers reported to OPD that her silver Cadillac had been stolen and her 8-month-old boy was kidnapped by an unknown man near 42nd and Dixie.

Around 11 officers began search efforts, eventually finding the vehicle in the 3800 block of East University.

Further investigation revealed that the unknown man was Rogers’ boyfriend and the father of the baby.

Police say they then learned that Rogers had gotten into an argument with her boyfriend, leading her to file a false report in order to get her baby back.

Rogers is being held at the Ector County Jail and is facing a charge of False Report or Alarm, which is a Class A Misdemeanor.

According to Ector County Jail records, Rogers is being held on a $1,000 bond.

OPD says the baby was never in any danger.
