The Odessa Animal Control Shelter is making some changes to better serve the community.

First, the OAC will be changing their hours of operation to better manage and care for the animals in their shelter.

Starting July 1, the OAC will be closed on Sundays and Mondays. The new schedule is as follows:

  • Tues. Thurs. Noon to 7 p.m.
  • Wed. & Fri. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sat. (will be open every other weekend) 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Next, the shelter will be making some changes to their procedure.

On Mondays, the OAC will be bringing in a vet to spay and neuter animals that have been adopted, claimed or rescued.

Furthermore, the OAC will now accept owner surrender animals and strays by appointment only to better manage the animals coming into the shelter.

Appointments can be scheduled by calling 432-368-3527.
