Funds will help build new fire station
MIDLAND COUNTY, Texas (Nexstar)- The Northeast Midland County Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a benefit cook off this weekend to raise funds to build a new fire station.
The two-day event kicks off Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the American Legion at 501 Veterans Airpark Lane with a free Stateline Band concert.
The fire department will have fire trucks for the kids to see, as well as hats and stickers to give away. There will be food trucks at the concert and the volunteer staff will be collecting donations and selling raffle tickets.
One $20 ticket will give each ticket holder three chances to win a new gun, and all proceeds will go towards building the new fire station.
Judging for the cook off will take place Saturday. Anyone wanting to compete in either the brisket, chicken, pork, or spareribs category can sign up here, or register the day of the event. The entry fee to compete is $200.00. Registration can also be completed the day of the event.
The fire department says the event is BYOB and people are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.
