Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis says the Texas Department of Public Safety will take over the investigation.
Griffis says the pilot was the only person on board. The pilot was not injured, but was taken to the hospital to get checked out.
A small, private airplane crashed while landing at the north end of Schlemeyer Airfield Wednesday evening.
According to Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis, there were no injuries.
Griffis says it is unknown at this time how many people were on board.
Authorities believe a bad landing may be to blame for the crash.
Griffis says the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board may be notified and investigate further.
