MPD warning the community of scammers at grocery stores

MIDLAND, Texas (Nexstar)- The Midland Police Department is warning the community of suspects targeting elderly people at grocery stores.

The suspects are accused of targeting people and distracting them to take their wallet out of their cart or purse.

According to a Facebook post, the suspects will then use money or cards from the wallets to purchase gift cards.

MPD says two suspects have already been arrested and are currently in jail at the Taylor County Detention Center. 

In total, more than $10,000 worth of gift cards have been found.

Police believe there are at least three other suspects involved.
