MIDLAND, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Midland Police Officer Zack Owens has been released from the hospital, according to officials with Medical Center Hospital Wednesday morning.

Owens was one of three police officers injured in the shootings over the weekend. DPS Trooper Chuck Pryor and OPD Cpl. James Santana were also injured.

Seven people were killed in the shootings and more than 20 were injured, according to law enforcement.

However, police officials confirmed Tuesday that Cpl. James Santana had also been released from MCH. He was greeted by a large gathering of well-wishers as his road to recovery begins.

DPS Trooper Chuck Pryor is the only officers who remains hospitalized.

In total, MCH is still treating eight patients; one in serious condition and seven in fair condition.

At ORMC, two patients remain hospitalized in stable condition and four are at Midland Memorial in stable condition.

MPD officials say officer Owens is now headed to Alabama to see a specialist who will evaluate injuries to his eye.
