MPD encouraging residents to lock vehicles

MIDLAND, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) The Midland Police Department is urging the community to lock their vehicle after a auto burglary spike in May.

Police officials say during the month of May, 132 vehicle burglaries were reported to the department, making it the highest mark of the year.

Of those cases, 44 percent were a result of unlocked vehicle door, according to a release.

Now, the Department is urging resident to always lock their vehicles and to ensure that valuable items are removed and never left in plain sight.
