Howard County Volunteer Fire Chief Tommy Sullivan says more than 300 acres of land were consumed by a fire that sparked Tuesday near Forsan.
Crews were called to battle the fire at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday evening near Wild Fire Road 15.
Sullivan says a power line shorted out causing the fire which was then fanned by winds.
At its peak, Sullivan says the fire was nearly a mile long and about half a mile wide and consumed 350 acres of land.
Some homes in the area were reportedly threatened by the fire but no damage was reported and the fire was contained around 10 p.m. Tuesday night.
