MIDLAND, Texas ( ABC Big 2 / FOX 24) – Midland ISD held an in-person board meeting. It was the first meeting for new superintendent Dr. Angelica Ramsey.
At Monday’s meeting, the board reviewed presentations for this year’s graduations. The proposed places for graduations include the Chap Center at Midland College, remote locations across Midland, or at Grande Stadium.
Dr. Ramsey said she wants all students, parents, and staff to be safe. The district said it will continue to monitor COVID-19 cases in Midland before making any decisions.
“I think that one, it’s just the indicator of our positive rates in the city and the county,” Dr. Ramsey said.” We are going to be data-driven and look at that and hope is, it’s such a culminating event, we want it to be in person and we want all family members to be able to attend.”
The board did not vote on graduation Monday. Dr. Ramsey said she hopes to have more answers by this Spring.
