MIDLAND, Texas (Nexstar)- Midland High School’s storied Steinway baby grand piano has made its way home again.
The nearly 70-year-old instrument was restored by the Steinway Workshop in New York City and was returned to the campus Friday.
Retired Choir Director Jeff Fentem took the stage to play the first song on the newly renovated piano.
“For it to go back and be refurbished into the beautiful condition that it is today is such a joy and benefit to Midland High,” said Anita Gamertsfelder, Director of Midland Education Foundation.
“Anyone that comes here to Midland High will hopefully be able to take advantage of a production that’s going on and you can see this beautiful instrument being used.”
