MIDLAND, Texas (Nexstar)- The Midland High School theater program will compete in the UIL one-act-play competition for the first time since 1982.
Students will perform “The Old Man and the Old Moon,” a theatrical, song-filled tale about an old man who gives up his job filling the moon with light to search for his lifelong love.
“Our students have been exceptional and have really embraced the show,” said Tiffany Gardner-Moore, MHS Theatre Director. “They have done a great job of clarifying the storytelling and have made the most of every rehearsal.”
In addition to advancing to the state competition, several students also won individual awards at the regional competition.
Senior Leighton Petty was named to the All-Star Cast, senior Kevin Hammond received an All-Star Cast Honorable Mention and senior Jacob Flores was named to the All-Star Crew.
State competition is scheduled for April 30 in Waxahachie.
