Officials with the Midland County Sheriff’s Office confirm to Big 2 News that Rory McKinney will be finishing out the term of office for the late Sheriff Gary Painter.

Officials emphasize to our newsroom that McKinney has not been appointed. He will just assume the responsibilities of the Sheriff while keeping the title of Chief Deputy.

McKinney will remain the Chief Deputy until the general election in 2020.
