The Midland County Sheriff’s Office has arrested one man in connection with the threat of an explosive that occurred on Thursday afternoon.
Officials say around 2:10 p.m. Thursday, deputies were called to the 7700 block of Highway 80 about the threat.
While investigating, deputies learned a man had threatened to “go postal” and “strap a device to his chest,” according to the release.
Deputies encountered the suspect, Charlie Thompson, and pulled him over on Highway 80. The Midland County District Attorney bomb dog was also called to the scene.
Officials say the Midland Police Department Bomb Squad eventually cleared Thompson’s vehicle and found no explosives inside.
Thompson was later arrested and charged with terroristic threat.
