MCH bumped to level III trauma center

News

ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) –

According to a release from MCH Monday, the hospital will be bumped to level III.

The designation change came after the American College of Surgeons survey in 2018 found MCH had deficiencies within the trauma department. Specifically, the survey found deficiencies in backup physician specialty call coverage.

The ACS verifies the presence of the resources listed in Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient.  These include commitment, readiness, resources, policies, patient care, and performance improvement, according to the American Trauma Society.

MCH officials say they anticipate a return to their level II status when the newest survey in August.

Furthermore, MCH says the designation will not impact the level of care they provide.
