A man’s good deed became quite the task thanks to strong winds in Odessa on Thursday.
Our camera crews spotted a man picking up a road sign that appeared to have been blown over near McKinney Park and the Crane bridge. The winds were so strong they even blew his hat off his head.
Local 2/Fox 24 reporter Lupe Zapata walked over to help the man, and they both were able to get the sign re-posted.
The man, whose name is Ernie Makinson, told us why he decided to take it upon himself to fix a sign that had blown over.
“Because it passes it on,” Makinson says.
“If somebody sees you stepping up then somebody else will step up.”
