Man wanted for Odessa home burglary

ODESSA, Texas (ABC Big 2/FOX 24) – A scare for a local family, a man was caught on a doorbell camera then police say he broke into their home.

April McDonald, her husband, and two sons had just moved into their home on Masquerade Blvd about a month ago. The couple left their kids home alone one night recently when McDonald saw a man wearing an Eagle Compression shirt through her doorbell camera.

“When we answered it was a gentleman saying he needed to check our water faucets outside,” McDonald said. “It didn’t set off any red flags for us because there is new construction in the area, there’s a lot of workers even late night at 8 o’clock there’s workers working.”

McDonald thought the man would stay outside, but what happened next was terrifying.

“In that small time he was able to pry off some screws of our window and unfortunately he did find an open window and he crawled in while my kids were home,” McDonald said.

McDonald said her 16-year-old son saw the burglar once he got inside.

“He just walked in almost didn’t even acknowledge my kid,” McDonald said. “He went through my bedroom, went through my closet, our laundry area, and back into our kitchen.”

A spokesperson from Eagle Compression tells ABC Big 2 News that this man does not work for their company, and believes he may be involved with thefts of their property over the past year.

As for McDonald, she’s glad nothing was stolen from her home but she hopes this man is caught soon before he targets somebody else.

“He invaded our space and that is nothing to just skim over, I’m just thankful my kids were safe.”

Odessa Police is still investigating. If you have any information on who this man is, call OPD at 432-335-3333 or Odessa Crime Stoppers at 432-333-TIPS (8477).
