Man suffers fatal fall in Big Bend National Park

BIG BEND, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) - A Dallas man has died after suffering a fatal fall Wednesday in Big Bend National Park. 

Officials say on Wednesday morning, they were notified about Edward Lowe who had fallen and died in the park. 

While investigating, park officials learned that Lowe was on a river trip moving through the Boquilla Canyon with four other people, according to a release. 

While looking for a campsite, Lowe reportedly fell headfirst off of an embankment and was killed, park officials say. 

Park rangers and US Border Patrol Agents then responded and recovered Lowe's body. 

"Big Bend National Park staff are saddened by this tragic loss of life, and extend their condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Lowe," a statement from the park reads.
