Man sentenced in sexual assault case

ECTOR COUNTY, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – One man was sentenced today after being found guilty of sexual assault of a child. Officials with the Ector County District Attorney’s Office say Leoncio Espinoza Jr. was found guilty of nine counts of sexual assault of a child Wednesday.

Espinoza Jr. was originally arrested back in May of 2018 after he was accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl for more than 10 years, prior reports indicate.

Odessa Police also reportedly located child pornography on Espinoza Jr.’s cell phone after his initial arrest, the original report reads.

An Ector County jury sentenced Espinoza Jr. to 20 years on each count, 180 years in total, according to the Ector County DA’s Office.

Assistant DA’s Kortney Williams and Bill Prasher prosecuted the case.
