One man has been found guilty in the death of a child back in 2018.

According to the Ector County District Attorney’s Office, Marqalo Flores was found guilty in the death of Zaydrian Guerra back in August 2018.

The investigation began when Odessa Police were called to the Park Ridge Apartments about a medical call.

At the scene, police located a 2-year-old unresponsive.

The child was later airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock.

While investigating the case, officers learned that the child sustained injuries while being watched by Marqalo Flores.

Flores told police the child had fallen off a bed, however investigators later told police the injuries were consistent with child abuse, previous reports indicate.

Flores was later arrested and charged with injury to a child.

He was sentenced to 45 year in prison Friday in Ector County.

The sentence comes with a separate investigation out of Lubbock County involving the remains of Guerra.

The Texas Rangers are currently investigating the former Lubbock County Medical Examiner after a long list of allegations.

That investigation is still unresolved.
