One man has been arrested and accused in a murder for hire plot, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Big 2/Fox 24.
The affidavit states that on Aug. 24, an investigator with the Midland County District Attorney’s Office received information about the murder for hire plot.
The investigator learned that Barry Ray Eddleman had hired someone to murder two people believed to live in Plano, the affidavit reveals.
While working with other law enforcement agencies and sources, Eddleman was recorded saying three people needed to be “taken care of” and that “if possible for it to look like suicide,” the affidavit reads.
Eddleman also reportedly revealed in the recorded conversation that he had previously hired another person for the job and had paid that individual $12,000 but the job was never completed.
Furthermore, the affidavit reveals that Eddleman agreed to pay the source $8,000 to have all three people “taken care of” and that he wanted them “gone” but didn’t “really care how it was done.”
The murder for hire plot, according to the affidavit, stemmed from legal and financial disputes, Eddleman said.
He also reportedly provided the addresses of all three people and made a partial payment for the scheme.
Eddleman has since been arrested and charged with three counts of murder.
He is being held at the Midland County Jail on bonds totaling $3 million.
