ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – The West Texas Food Bank is rallying the community to make sure no child goes hungry.
Tuesday, backpacks filled with food were put together for the Food 2 Kids program. They will be given out to more than 50 Basin schools to tackle the problem of hunger on the weekends.
The backpacks will be given out every Friday at the schools for the rest of the school year.
West Texas Food Bank Director of Marketing and Communications Craig Stoker said, “Each bag contains about 20 different items that are kid-friendly, they’re pop tops, they don’t have to be cooked. Just great things kids want and will eat.”
