Veteran Roof Giveaway

Local News

MIDLAND, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – A local roofing company is giving back this holiday season. Chappell Roofing in Midland is holding it 5th annual “veteran roof giveway.” Meet last year’s winner and hear why it came at the perfect time.

“I told my wife, I said when we tell somebody that we got scammed, people coming and helping us is something that I have to accept,” said Daniel Roberson, a veteran.

He’s a Navy Veteran who served in the Iraq War.

“I served the country and that’s just like anybody else going and doing their normal everyday job to me, that’s how I see,” said Roberson.

He was also the winner of last year’s “veteran roof giveaway” put on by Chappell Roofing.

“It’s not like I did something extraordinary. I have friends that served and they’re missing fingers, eyes,” said Roberson. “Those guys to me, deserve it more than me.”

Jeremy Chappell is the owner of Chappell Roofing.

He said, “Our veterans have already given so much so it’s just kind of an easy choice. Those guys went out there and did a job that none of us really want to do.”

“I felt truly blessed because we knew we had something going on with the roof,” said Roberson.

It came during a difficult time for Roberson. He had just had surgery and was working on house projects when he was scammed.

“We contacted somebody who was an alleged contractor, gave them a check for $3,150,” said Roberson. “We eventually did get our money back.”

Despite what happened, Roberson says the blessings kept pouring in.

“When all these recent hail storms hit, we didn’t even have to call Chappell roofing, they just kind of said we’re going to come inspect the roof. If there’s anything wrong, we’re going to fix it,” said Roberson.

A local company that continues to give even after the initial giveaway. Applications for the giveaway will be taken until December 24th. For more information on the giveaway, click here.
